Bulgarian Parliament Passes Bill Banning E-Cigarettes and Nicotine Products

Bulgarian lawmaker proposes comprehensive ban on e-cigarettes and nicotine products in revised tobacco law, gaining unanimous support from parliamentary committee.

According to Epicenter's report on February 11th, the proposed amendment to the Tobacco and Related Products Act submitted by Kostadin Angelov of the Bulgarian political party alliance GERB-SDS has been unanimously approved by the parliamentary Economic Committee.

The legislator proposed in the bill to completely ban the supply, sale, distribution, and advertising of e-cigarettes and similar products, regardless of whether they contain nicotine. Additionally, the proposed amendment to the "Child Protection Act" further prohibits the provision and sale of products containing nicotine to children, such as nicotine pouches, snuff, chewing gum, etc., as well as energy drinks.

He called on lawmakers to support the bill, believing that this will demonstrate the Bulgarian government's determination to address this issue.
