·An e-cigarette exploded in Cheryabinsk, Russia.
·Dr. Anton Ryzhiy warned of the dangers of e-cigarettes.
·No casualties were reported, but concerns about youth health have been raised.

On September 17, 2025, according to vesti.ru reports on September 16, in the city of Chelyabinsk, Russia, a teenager's e-cigarette exploded in his pocket. The news came from Anton Ryzhiy, a clinic's chief doctor and Chelyabinsk city council member, who shared the incident video on his Telegram channel.

Dr. Ricky revealed that the e-cigarette was in the pocket of a teenager's jacket at the time, but luckily the jacket had been removed before the explosion occurred, so no one was injured. As a father of multiple children and a doctor, he stated that he cannot turn a blind eye to this issue. Ricky emphasized that e-cigarettes are harmful to health because inhaling the gas containing nicotine and other chemicals can damage the lungs, and cause cardiovascular diseases and addiction.

In addition, e-cigarette devices also pose a physical threat - if they explode in pockets, hands, or mouths, it can result in burns, injuries to the face and hands, and even blindness. Dr. Richie is calling for these dangerous devices to not become popular among teenagers, and for their sales to be banned.

The association noted that while Germany’s market continues to grow, the black market may account for nearly half of total volume; disposables are reshaping retail channels. VdeH is firmly opposed to flavor bans and disposable bans, arguing such measures would expand the black market and drive users back to cigarettes.
