Dr Colin Mendelsohn, founder of Australian Tobacco Harm Reduction Association, disagrees with the ban on e-cigarettes in Australia.

According to a report from Australian media outlet 3aw on January 2nd, Dr. Colin Mendelsohn, the founding chair of the Australian Association for the Reduction of Tobacco Harm and a retired general practitioner, disagrees with Australia's ban on e-cigarettes and has provided his reasons for doing so.

Australia has recently imposed a ban on the importation of disposable e-cigarettes, allowing their legal sale and purchase exclusively through pharmacies with a prescription. Dr. Colin Mendelson asserts that these regulations are misguided, asserting that the prohibition will ultimately prove ineffective.

Maldives Implements World's First Generational Prohibition on Tobacco, Banning Sales and Smoking for Those Born After 2007

The Maldives has implemented a generational tobacco ban, effective November 1, 2025, making it the only country to permanently prohibit anyone born on or after January 1, 2007 from buying or using tobacco.
