DTI Strengthens Enforcement of E-cigarette Law to Protect Minors

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the Philippines intensifies campaign against underage access to e-cigarette products.

According to a report by the Philippines News Agency on August 22nd, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the Philippines is stepping up its promotion of the "e-cigarette law" in order to prevent minors from accessing e-cigarette products through online channels.

On Thursday (22nd), the DTI regional office convened local government officials, representatives from national government agencies, police personnel, and leaders from state universities and colleges to discuss the implementation of the law.

Director Ricci Torio of the Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) stated that since the enactment of the law in 2022, they have been conducting advocacy campaigns in various provinces to explain the legal provisions. Eastern Visayas is the first location outside of Metro Manila where FTEB is required to conduct advocacy for the "e-cigarette law.

We are doing this to raise awareness, as not everyone is familiar with the terms of this law. We hope to educate local officials and partner organizations about the impact of selling e-cigarettes to minors.

British American Tobacco’s Irish unit says VELO pouch sales hit 29m, net revenue climbs to €33.75m
