According to a report by WLOS, the Jackson County public schools in the United States are about to launch an initiative aimed at educating and alerting parents and caregivers about the dangers of teenagers using e-cigarettes.
The campaign is set to commence this month and will extend until the end of the year, targeting the act of inhaling and exhaling the vapor generated by e-cigarettes or similar devices. The initiative will encompass the distribution of brochures, flyers, billboards, social media platforms, public service advertisements, and educational events held within all school districts.
On November 5th, this event will also host a free community education activity in collaboration with renowned national speaker "Tall Cop," who has over 20 years of experience in preventing and educating about drug abuse. In his presentation, titled "Tall Cop Says Stop," he devotes thousands of hours each year to professional and community training on drug and alcohol prevention, education, and enforcement. In this event, his main focus will be on educating parents, educators, and others on preventing teen drug abuse.
Education officials in Jackson County have stated that the initiative, initiated by the District Health Advisory Committee, is a response to the widespread concerns and complaints from principals, teachers, and students across the county regarding e-cigarettes and their fillings, also known as inhalants.
The school district stated in a declaration released on October 26, 2023, that "the use of e-cigarettes has also seen a significant increase in office referrals, in-school suspensions, and disciplinary actions, especially in regards to issues stemming from the use of e-cigarettes on buses.
