According to Brazilian media outlet Acordacidade, the police in Feira de Santana, Brazil, confiscated four e-cigarettes during raids on two city schools. The operation was carried out by a school patrol team, initiated in response to reports from school staff.
The police have revealed that these underage individuals who use e-cigarettes not only do so outside of school but even inside the school premises. They have been sent to the school administration for appropriate action.
The Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) currently prohibits the sale, import, and promotion of e-cigarettes in the Brazilian market. The agency stated that these devices are not safe and pose a potential threat to health. School patrols have been conducting educational campaigns on the hazards of e-cigarette use in municipal schools. The police are also reminding parents or guardians to talk to their children about the dangers of smoking.
Anvisa advises parents to discuss the risks of e-cigarette use with their children, emphasizing that it is not a safe alternative and can potentially harm their health.
