Falmouth Community in Maine Bans Sale of Flavored Tobacco

Falmouth, Maine becomes the latest community to ban flavored tobacco products, despite opposition from big tobacco companies.

According to a report from WGME, the Falmouth community in Maine, United States, is the latest area to decide on a ban on the sale of flavored tobacco products.

On Monday evening, there was a face-to-face discussion regarding this proposal.

According to the organization "Maine Keeps Kids from Flavored Tobacco," despite efforts by the legislative body in the state of Maine to push for a statewide ban on flavored tobacco, communities throughout the entire state have already begun taking proactive measures. Despite pushback from major tobacco companies throughout the process, leaders in small towns like Falmouth remain determined to protect the next generation from these products.

Philip Morris Japan (PMJ) announced that it will open “IQOS Flagship Ginza” in Tokyo on September 4, 2026. The location will become the first global flagship space for PMI’s IQOS brand. The design will incorporate Japanese natural aesthetics and traditional craftsmanship. Australia-China Operation Dismantles Tobacco Smuggling Network: 112 Containers, 60 Arrests and A$92 Million in Illicit Tobacco

According to The Maritime Executive on August 19, 2026, the Australian Border Force (ABF) and China’s Anti-Smuggling Bureau of General Administration of China Customs worked together to dismantle an international illicit tobacco smuggling network targeting Australia. According to information released by ABF on August 20, sustained information sharing and cooperation led to investigations into 112 shipping containers, with 91 found to contain illicit tobacco. Authorities seized more than 60 million cigarettes and 60 kilograms of loose-leaf tobacco, representing more than A$92 million in unpaid duties. More than 60 people suspected of involvement in the network were arrested in China.
