
According to Maksym Barabash, CEO of Philip Morris international(PMI) in Ukraine, the company may serve as a partner and advisor in Ukraine's recovery efforts based on the topics discussed and agreed upon at the recent Ukraine recovery conference held in Lugano, Switzerland.
According to Barabash, PMI has a strong track record of doing business in Ukraine: "PMI is the main investor, employer, and taxpayer in Ukraine for the United States." "This is how we view our future in Ukraine.
He added that the company has experience in upgrading outdated production equipment and has built new production facilities.
Barabash stated, "Therefore, I believe that we are not only exporters, the largest taxpayers and employers, but also partners and advisors in the country's recovery.
For over 20 years, PMI has operated in Ukraine and has a factory in the Kharkiv region. Prior to the Russian invasion on February 24th, its Ukrainian facility employed approximately 1,300 people. The factory serves as an export hub for over 20 countries, including major markets such as Japan and Egypt.
In 2020,PMI reported a net profit of 2.73 billion gryvnia ($92.38 million USD), which represents a 5% increase from the previous year.
