Illegal E-cigarette Sales Arrested at Phuket Airport Beach

According to The Phuket News on May 17, Thai Phuket island police arrested two men for illegal sale of e-cigarettes near Nai Yang Beach in southern Phuket Airport.

 

According to local police reports, on the afternoon of May 15th at around 5 pm local time, authorities entered a local store in the area to conduct a search. During the search, 25-year-old Burmese employee Htet Myat Kyaw was discovered by the police. The 25-year-old manager of the store, Detphong Phromphak, allowed the authorities to conduct the search.

 

Police seized and confiscated 45 "NUKE" brand e-cigarettes at the scene, including flavors such as cola, apple, watermelon, strawberry, mint, and grape.

 

According to section 242 of the Customs Law, both suspects have been charged in court with the offense of "collaborating to hide, sell, transport, purchase, pawn, or in any way receive known illegally imported goods into Thailand." In addition, their Burmese shop assistant has also been charged with illegal entry and working illegally in Thailand.
