Thai Police Bust Illegal E-cigarette Sales to Minors at Market
Thai police seize over 378 e-cigarettes in a market raid after receiving complaints of illegal sales to minors.

According to newsdirectory3 on March 12th, Thai police received a complaint from the public while conducting an inspection at a market in Nakhon Phanom Province, alleging that someone was illegally operating an e-cigarette shop and selling e-cigarettes to minors.

 

Upon inspection, it was determined that this is an e-cigarette vending machine, which operates through an ordering system on the machine's screen. It functions like a typical vending machine, but it dispenses e-cigarettes. Police have seized the vending machine and various types of e-cigarettes, totaling over 378 items, with a combined value of over 58,000 Thai Baht (approximately $16,807.6 USD).

 

Subsequently, the police located the individuals involved in the case and will be taking further legal action.

South Korea Vape Strategies Diverge as BAT Reconsiders Exit and PMI Takes VEEV to About 14,000 Stores
BAT Rothmans says it previously considered exiting South Korea's vaping market because of competitive pressure from unregulated products, but is now reassessing conditions following changes to the country's nicotine regulatory framework. Vuse and other BAT vaping products remain available through existing distribution channels. The statement followed a South Korean media report that interpreted BAT's broader withdrawal from selected Vapour markets as a full exit from South Korea. Australia’s Daily Smoking Rate Falls to Record Low of 5.8% as Nicotine Use Patterns Shift
According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare’s National Drug Strategy Household Survey, daily smoking among Australians aged 18 and over fell to a record low of 5.8% in 2025. Health Minister Mark Butler said Australia now has around 500,000 fewer daily smokers than three years ago and credited the government’s vaping reforms as part of broader progress. Among people aged 14 and over, daily smoking declined from 8.3% in 2022-23 to 5.6% in 2025. Daily vaping rates stabilised at 3.6%, while the government also moved to further restrict access to nicotine pouches through unapproved therapeutic import pathways.

The UK Reform Party has proposed limiting the number of dedicated vape shops in the country to around 1,000 as part of a plan to tighten oversight of vape retail channels. Spanish newspaper El Confidencial interviewed Fred Monteiro, Regional Director for Americas and Europe at British American Tobacco (BAT). Monteiro said BAT supports setting regulatory limits for nicotine products but opposes Spain’s proposed 0.99mg nicotine-per-pouch limit, arguing that such a restriction could affect adult smokers’ transition to alternatives. He said nicotine regulation should be based on scientific evidence and harm reduction principles. Monteiro also said smoke-free products now account for around 25% of BAT’s Americas and Europe business and nearly 30% of its Europe business
