Thai Police Bust Illegal E-cigarette Sales to Minors at Market
Thai police seize over 378 e-cigarettes in a market raid after receiving complaints of illegal sales to minors.

According to newsdirectory3 on March 12th, Thai police received a complaint from the public while conducting an inspection at a market in Nakhon Phanom Province, alleging that someone was illegally operating an e-cigarette shop and selling e-cigarettes to minors.

 

Upon inspection, it was determined that this is an e-cigarette vending machine, which operates through an ordering system on the machine's screen. It functions like a typical vending machine, but it dispenses e-cigarettes. Police have seized the vending machine and various types of e-cigarettes, totaling over 378 items, with a combined value of over 58,000 Thai Baht (approximately $16,807.6 USD).

 

Subsequently, the police located the individuals involved in the case and will be taking further legal action.

She previously served at Roche as Senior Scientific Communications Director for Neuroscience and Rare Diseases and worked extensively in spinal muscular atrophy. Her earlier career also covered competitive intelligence, clinical and regulatory monitoring, pipeline development and launch preparation. During her time working in Roche's SMA field, Evrysdi passed through several U.S. FDA milestones, including its initial approval, an expanded indication for younger infants and approval of a tablet formulation. Public records do not show that Kioupritzi herself led the FDA submissions.

The National Association of Tobacco Outlets is calling for more FDA marketing authorizations, greater transparency in the PMTA process and continued enforcement against unauthorized e-cigarettes, even as its executive director, David Spross, points to recent regulatory developments as signs of progress. At the state level, excise taxes, flavor restrictions and vapor product directories remain major issues for tobacco retailers. By August 2026, 17 states had enacted laws establishing state-managed e-cigarette directories or similar systems.

The meeting comes as China seeks public comment on a draft mandatory national standard for heated cigarettes. The report did not disclose the subjects discussed or indicate whether heated tobacco products or market access were addressed.
