Indonesian Customs Seize Large Amount of Untaxed Cigarettes
Batam Customs in Indonesia successfully intercepted a fast boat carrying untaxed cigarettes, seizing a total of 564,000 cigarettes.

According to a report by iNewsBatam on January 10th, the Customs Office of Batam Island in Indonesia (Bea Cukai Batam) successfully seized a fast boat carrying untaxed cigarettes in the waters off Bintan Island on January 7th. A total of 47 boxes, or 564,000 cigarettes, were confiscated.

 

Mohamad Rizki Baidilah, the director of Batam Island Customs Information and Compliance Guidance, stated on the 10th that, "In this operation, Batam Island Customs successfully prevented a large-scale smuggling incident, stopping a significant amount of untaxed cigarettes from being transported out of the eastern island waters.
