Ireland Plans to Ban Sales of E-Cigarettes to Minors
Irish government plans to ban the sale of e-cigarettes to minors before Christmas, with hefty fines and imprisonment as penalties.

According to a report in The Sun on November 8th, the Irish government is planning to legislate a ban on the sale of e-cigarettes to individuals under the age of 18 before Christmas. The proposed bill is expected to undergo its fourth stage review in parliament and will then be submitted to President Michael D. Higgins for official signing into law.

According to the bill, any store found selling e-cigarettes to minors will face fines of up to 4000 euros or a 6-month imprisonment.

In addition, the bill will also ban e-cigarette advertisements within a 200-meter radius of schools and on public transportation.

Ireland's Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has announced that this new law will come into effect before Christmas. He is also planning to propose a second legislation to completely ban disposable e-cigarettes across all age groups.
