Jersey Island in the UK plans to ban disposable e-cigarettes starting in 2025, aiming to reduce waste and promote sustainability.

According to a report by BBC News on December 12th, the island of Jersey in the UK plans to ban the use of disposable e-cigarettes starting in 2025. This decision was approved by the Jersey Parliament.

The bill passed with a vote of 45 in favor and 0 against on Wednesday. Stores are permitted to sell their existing inventory before the ban goes into effect.

The proposer, Andy Jehan, stated that there is a high rate of disposable e-cigarette use among young people.

The increasing popularity of disposable e-cigarettes is leading to a frequent occurrence of various forms of disposal problems, posing a significant challenge. The plastics, metals, and lithium batteries used in each disposable device undoubtedly contradict our commitment to reduce waste, maximize resource utilization, and promote sustainable development through a circular economy.
