
According to a report by Insider, the Greek subsidiary of Japan Tobacco International (JTI) has recently established its position in the heated tobacco products category under the Ploom international brand. As a member of the Japanese tobacco giant, JTI, the company has made significant investments, production, exports, and social impact in the Greek market over the past 43 years.
According to media reports, Greece has emerged as one of the top ten European markets for Ploom, a leading heat-not-burn technology product. This reflects a significant milestone for the company in the Greek market.
Mr. Babis Thamnidis, the financial director, emphasized that "Ploom is an ambitious premium brand that has experienced dynamic growth in the Japanese market. Currently, Japan is the fastest-growing market in the heated tobacco category and Ploom is gradually expanding into the European market. Ploom targets adult consumers who are seeking new experiences, combining attractive, modern designs with advanced technology.
The company will invest as much as 300 million euros in response. It is expected to be completed within the next three years. Mr. Sandis further explained, "This strategic choice reflects the rapid growth of the Greek market in this category, while also acknowledging JTI's stable, consistent, and strong investments in our country.
JTI's investment in Greece began in 1981, and its success over the years has made it the leading company in the traditional tobacco product industry, as well as the largest foreign investor and tobacco manufacturer in northern Greece. In 2018, JTI took over the Xikang factory in Greece and modernized it.
Mr. Babys Sandidis stated, "This new investment is a sign of the company's trust in Greece and a symbol of successful development in its economic indicators.
