JTI Italy Celebrates Nationwide Promotion of Ploom X
JTI Italy celebrates nationwide success of Ploom X, its heating tobacco device, gaining increasing market share since April launch.

According to a report by Liberoquotidiano, Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Italy celebrated the nationwide promotion of its heated tobacco device, Ploom X, in Rome. The device was launched in April this year and has since gained significant market share.

Spain’s minority government has introduced a bill to prohibit smoking and the use of e-cigarettes in outdoor venues such as beaches, bar and restaurant terraces, bus stops, and sports stadiums. The proposal—framed as a public-health measure—faces a fragmented parliament and hospitality-sector pushback. Unlike France’s July restrictions, Spain’s plan includes both terraces and e-cigarettes. The bill excludes plain packaging; Spain records over 50,000 smoking-related deaths annually.

The U.S. Department of Justice, together with the FDA and the U.S. Marshals Service, raided the warehouse of e-cigarette distributor Midwest Goods in Bensenville, Illinois, seizing more than 600,000 unauthorized e-cigarette products. Midwest Goods denied any violations, stating that the products had been submitted for premarket applications but remained unreviewed by the FDA for an extended period, and criticized the regulations as unfair to small and medium-sized businesses.

From September 1st, Singapore will enforce stricter e-cigarette regulations. E-cigarettes with etomidate ("Kpods") will be Class C drugs. Suppliers face up to 20 years in prison and 15 cane strokes. Regular e-cigarette users risk fines and mandatory rehab. Violating foreigners may be deported. The government will also conduct large-scale enforcement and awareness campaigns, increasing inspections in schools, public areas, and airports.
