Kenya's New Regulations Require Health Warning Images on Tobacco Products
Kenya Health Department mandates prominent health warning images covering at least 80% of tobacco product packaging starting May 2.

According to a recent report by Standard Media, the Kenyan Ministry of Health has started accepting public feedback on controversial new tobacco product health warning images starting from May 2nd.

New regulations require tobacco manufacturers to cover at least 80% of the packaging of nicotine products such as cigarettes, nicotine pouches, and e-cigarettes with striking health warning images to raise public awareness of the dangers of smoking.

The Ministry of Health stated in a public announcement that the purpose of these graphic warnings is to increase public awareness of the risks of tobacco use, prevent new smokers, reduce tobacco consumption, and encourage smokers to quit. Furthermore, the necessity of graphic warnings is emphasized to address language barriers and difficulties in understanding textual information.
