According to a report by eNews Malaysia on June 22, the Perak state government plans to implement a statewide ban on the sale of e-cigarettes and e-cigarette products in October 2025. The proposed ban, which has garnered significant attention, was put forward by A Sivanesan, the chairman of the Perak state committee for human resources, health, Indian community affairs, and national integration. As a result, the state health department is in the process of drafting white papers on the matter for quick submission to the state executive council for review.

The head of the state health department, Dr. Feisul Idzwan Mustapha, has received instructions to expedite the completion of a work plan. Siwaneshan stated that the work plan is expected to receive approval for implementation in October.

On June 4, 2025, State Minister Saarani Mohamad stated that the state government is considering the necessity of banning the sale of e-cigarettes. Although the issue has been raised in the State Executive Council, there are still some details that need to be clarified.

Dr. Sivaneshan, speaking at a orthopedic conference held at the Riverfront Hotel in Ipoh, stated that while the ban on e-cigarettes may cause concerns for businesses, ultimately it will benefit the public from a health standpoint. He further added that despite potential complaints from the industry, the government will continue to push forward with this policy as it is in the best interest of the public.
