Man Arrested for Smuggling E-cigarettes in Argentina without Permission
An Argentine man was arrested in Misiones for smuggling 251 e-cigarettes without customs clearance, valued at $26,000.

According to Noticiasdel6, on May 10th, a man in Misiones Province, Argentina was arrested for smuggling an e-cigarette without customs permission.

 

The man transported a total of 251 e-cigarettes of various brands without customs permission. Customs estimated the value of the confiscated e-cigarettes to be approximately 23 million pesos (26,000 US dollars).

 

Currently, the man has been detained and customs have seized the e-cigarettes and other related items.

Volodin said the decision concerns the health of citizens, especially children. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has made procedural progress in its lawsuit against North Carolina-based e-cigarette distributor Dream Distro LLC and its owner. A federal district judge granted the government’s request for entry of default after the defendants failed to respond to the complaint within 21 days of service. The government will next seek a default judgment, including a permanent injunction.
