Thai police shut down a major illegal e-cigarette distributor, seizing over 100,000 devices worth $1.52 million. The suspect sourced products from China and used private couriers to evade regulations, with sales exceeding $3 million in the past year.

On April 23, 2025, the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) formally charged PMFTC, the Philippine affiliate of Philip Morris International, with violating RA11900, the Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation Act. The DTI ordered an immediate halt to all promotional activities related to the IQOS ILUMA x Steve Aoki limited edition product.

The Papua New Guinea government has announced a total ban on the sale, import, and use of e-cigarette products. The ban will take effect within a week of its publication in the National Gazette. Under the Tobacco Control Act 2016, individuals found in violation may be fined up to 10,000 kina (approximately USD 2,400), while businesses could face fines of up to 200,000 kina (around USD 48,000).

Fifteen EU countries have urged the European Commission to revise tobacco tax rules for the first time since 2011. They call for minimum tax rates on e-cigarettes, nicotine pouches, and heated tobacco, and higher taxes on cigarettes and cigars to tackle health risks and illegal trade.
