The Indonesian customs authorities have seized a large quantity of illegal cigarettes, reaching 800,000 in total.

Authorities conducted a surprise inspection at an illegal production site and discovered a variety of processing equipment.

According to a report by Rmol on March 4, the Indonesian customs department dismantled an illegal tobacco factory in East Java province.

This operation began with the interception of a box truck at the Pakis toll booth on the outskirts of Malang, East Java. Upon inspection, it was found that the truck was carrying 800,000 untaxed OK BOLD brand cigarettes, packed in 50 boxes.

According to the driver's statement, these illegal cigarettes originated from an unlicensed tobacco factory. As a result, a joint investigation team conducted a raid on the factory on February 28, 2025. In addition to a large quantity of untaxed cigarettes, the investigation team also seized various brands of tobacco labels, suspected to be used for the production of unauthorized cigarettes.

Law enforcement officers also found and seized production equipment including four MK-8 cigarette manufacturing machines, three pressure switches, and three packaging machines inside the factory. They also found 18 packs of Record brand cigarettes with tax stamps already affixed, but these cigarettes were suspected to be used for illicit purposes. In addition, a box truck that had previously been used to transport illegal cigarettes was also found on the factory premises.

Budi stated: "All illegal cigarettes and production equipment have been safely transferred to the East Java Customs Office. The machines and tobacco labels will be used for further investigation.
