Philippine Police to Enforce on Vapes Following Parental Concerns
Philippine National Police (PNP) announces stricter monitoring of minors using vapes and cigarettes after receiving parental appeals.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will intensify its efforts to enforce local ordinances and Vape laws against minors using vapes and cigarettes, following appeals from concerned parents. PNP Spokesperson Col. Redrico Maranan stated that Police Chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda, Jr. has ordered the enforcement of these regulations.

Maranan reported that some minors have been accosted and warned, with their vape items confiscated after bringing them to school. He added that police chiefs and provincial directors are instructed to coordinate with local governments and school officials to monitor the youth's use of vapes and cigarettes due to their adverse health effects.

In collaboration with local governments, the police will also continue inspecting commercial establishments to ensure they are not selling vapes and cigarettes to minors. Maranan reassured the public that officers will handle these cases with care, particularly when enforcing the Vape law with minors.

Initially, minors will be issued a warning. Maranan emphasized that the goal is to warn, remind, and educate minors about the dangers of smoking, rather than pressing charges or jailing them. The PNP will work with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to enforce the smoking ban among minors.

The Vape Law has recently shifted vape regulation from the Food and Drug Administration to the trade department and lowered the age of sale from 18 to 21.
