Philip Morris International named global top employer for eighth consecutive year, according to Summa Magazine on February 20.

According to a report by Summa magazine on February 20th, Philip Morris International has been recognized for the eighth consecutive year as a "Top Employer" globally by the Top Employers Institute, due to its ongoing commitment to employee development and welfare.

 

This survey covers 20 themes in six areas including talent strategy, work environment, talent acquisition, learning, diversity and inclusivity, and happiness.

The UK government announced on April 29 that the Tobacco and Vapes Bill had received Royal Assent and become law. Under the new law, it is illegal to sell tobacco to anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 2009. The government said the law creates the UK’s first “smoke-free generation” and includes measures to ban the advertising and sponsorship of vapes and nicotine products, as well as powers to restrict packaging, branding and displays designed to appeal to children.

The Texas Supreme Court issued a case summary on May 8, 2026, describing its decision in Hancock v. RJR Vapor Co. LLC. The dispute centered on whether RJR Vapor’s VELO oral nicotine pouches are taxable as “tobacco products” under the Texas Tax Code. Lower courts had held that the pouches were not taxable tobacco products, but the Texas Supreme Court reversed, concluding that VELO pouches are taxable because they are made of “a tobacco substitute.”
