Police Seize 450 Smuggled E-cigarettes in Edirne Operation

Turkish police seize 450 smuggled e-cigarettes from a suspicious car in Edirne during an operation. Driver under investigation.

According to a report by Turkish news agency Anadolu (DHA) on December 13, police in Edirne seized 450 smuggled e-cigarettes during an operation, from a vehicle they suspected.

As part of their efforts to combat smuggling activities, the police force in the province intercepted a vehicle in the Enez area that they suspected to be involved in illegal activities. After conducting a search of the vehicle, they discovered 450 smuggled e-cigarettes.

The driver has been initiated into the judicial process by the authorities.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has named Bret Koplow permanent director of the FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products, ending his period as acting chief. HHS also said CTP will prioritize innovation and access to less harmful alternatives for adult smokers while continuing efforts to protect youth.

One year after the UK disposable vape ban came into force, local authorities continue to seize illegal and non-compliant vaping products. FOI data compiled by nicotine retailer Northerner shows more than 1.3 million products were seized between June 2025 and May 2026, with Bolton recording the highest number of seizures and Swansea reporting the highest estimated value.

Kuwait Tightens Tobacco and Nicotine Rules, Bans Under-21 Sales and Extends Public Smoking Restrictions to Vapes and Heated Tobacco

Kuwait has issued a comprehensive new regulatory framework covering tobacco, e-cigarettes, heated tobacco and other nicotine products. Ministerial Decision No. 237 of 2026, signed by Health Minister Ahmad Al-Awadhi, will take effect on January 1, 2027. The rules prohibit sales to people under 21 and ban sales through websites, apps, social media and delivery services. E-cigarettes and heated tobacco products will also be treated as smoking in public and enclosed places where smoking is prohibited. Nicotine pouches and other oral nicotine products not registered as medicines are banned.

The article argues that after the U.S. expanded federal oversight of nicotine products in 2022, some manufacturers began using nicotine-like compounds such as 6-methyl-nicotine that may fall outside existing definitions.
