Russian Court Suspends Rights of Dutch Tobacco Distributor Megapolis

Russian court suspends Dutch tobacco distributor's rights in major economic organization, following lawsuit by Ministry of Industry and Trade.

According to a report from TASS on August 8, the Moscow Arbitration Court has temporarily suspended the rights of the Dutch tobacco distributor Besloten Vennootschap Megapolis Distribution B.V. in the company "Megapolis Trading Company" following a lawsuit from the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Минпромторг).

According to court documents, the court fully supported the Ministry of Industry and Trade's lawsuit.

The department filed a lawsuit against the Dutch tobacco distributor Megapolis Distribution B.V. on July 18, 2024, and the court accepted the case on the same day.

It is reported that Megapolis Distribution B.V. is the parent company of Megapolis distributors, which supplies tobacco products from JTI, PMI, and other tobacco giants to the Russian market.
