Russian Parliament Proposes Education on E-Cigarette Harms in Schools.
Russian Communist Party proposes nationwide education on e-cigarette harms in schools, aiming to further protect minors from health risks.

According to a report by RIA on February 17th, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) in the State Duma parliamentary group has proposed to the Russian Ministry of Education a plan to conduct a series of courses on the "harm of e-cigarettes" in schools nationwide.


This letter, signed by the leader of the party Gennady Zyuganov and the Chair of the State Duma Committee on Family Affairs Nina Ostankina, highlights the need for education and guidance for children and adolescents, as well as raising awareness among students about laws prohibiting the sale of e-cigarettes to minors. The letter also calls for the involvement of State Duma representatives in drafting such laws.


On December 28, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law restricting the sale of e-cigarettes to minors. However, lawmakers believe that a ban alone is not enough and that increasing education measures to raise awareness among young people about the dangers of e-cigarettes is also necessary.
