Russia's Health Minister: Adult Smoking Rate Down to 18.6 Percent

According to TASS news agency on April 22nd, the number of smokers in Russia has decreased by more than half since 2009, dropping from 39.5% of the total population to 18.6%. Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko announced this news at the second All-Russia Municipal Forum "Small Hometown - the Power of Russia".

 

Minister Murashko pointed out that the smoking rate among adults aged 15 and older has decreased from 39.5% in 2009 to 18.6% in 2024, attributing this achievement to the implementation of effective anti-smoking measures.
