According to a recent report by Canadian media outlet Ckom, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Saskatchewan pulled over a truck during their patrol. The RCMP stated that they discovered evidence of illegal cigarette transportation in the said truck and conducted a search.
The Royal Mounted Police stated in a press release that officers conducted a search of a truck and trailer, where they discovered 12.5 pallets of unbranded tobacco. A total of approximately 356 cases, containing a grand total of 3.56 million unbranded cigarettes, were seized.
The driver of the truck was a 25-year-old man from Edmonton who has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses including selling tobacco products, possessing unmarked tobacco products, smuggling tobacco, and possessing unmarked tobacco. He is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court.
