Spain Introduces Innovative Law to Further Restrict Tobacco Use
Spain aims to further restrict tobacco use in public and private places with a new law targeting a smoke-free environment.

According to a report from Equinox Magazine on March 14, the Spanish government is seeking to further restrict the use of tobacco in public and private places. They have announced a new "innovative law" aimed at creating a smoke-free environment for non-smokers.

According to the proposed bill, smoke-free areas may increase, including bars, terraces, beaches, and bus stops. Additionally, the new legislation also intends to prohibit smoking in private places where there are minors or patients present, especially in vehicles and homes, as well as banning the littering of cigarette butts in public areas.

In order to encourage businesses and citizens to comply with the new laws, the Spanish Ministry of Health is also planning to increase fines. This will be achieved by raising taxes, thereby causing prices of cigarettes and e-cigarettes to naturally increase.

This bill will be voted on in the Public Health Committee this Thursday.
