According to a recent report by Venezuelanews, the Spanish Cancer Society has recently launched a new product called "Vaper Cáncer Flavour" (cancer-flavored e-cigarette). The purpose of this product is to raise awareness about the significant health consequences of using e-cigarettes.

This device mimics the packaging of regular vapes, but the text printed on it serves as a reminder for people to prevent the occurrence of cancer caused by smoking. This campaign specifically targets young people and frequent internet users who are the highest consumers of e-cigarettes.

Before launching this initiative, the Spanish Cancer Society collaborated with a consulting company to examine the social media platforms commonly used by young people. They evaluated the influence of internet celebrities on smoking behaviour among Spanish youth. Throughout the study, they reviewed the profiles of 450 Spanish-speaking influencers who were prominent figures in the gaming or television industry and were active on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

The results show that 25% of people have posted "smoking-related content" in the past six years, according to Jorge López, one of the study's leaders. This implies that these contents may have reached 182 million followers.

These internet celebrities are mainly concentrated on the following platforms:

  • YouTube 57%
  • Instagram 25%
  • TikTok 8%.

According to its official website, the Spanish Cancer Association was founded in 1953 and is a non-profit organization made up of patients, family members, volunteers, collaborators, and professionals. Prior to this, 2FIRSTS saw anti-smoking posters posted by the association near the venue of the e-cigarette exhibition in Spain, explaining the effects of tobacco on users.
