U.S. Vape Tech Association Launches Million-Dollar Ad Campaign Accusing FDA and CBP of Breaking Trump’s Industry Rescue Promise

Jul.16
The U.S. Vape Technology Association launched a million-dollar ad campaign urging the Trump administration to differentiate illegal youth vapes from adult cessation products, calling for simpler regulations and consumer choice protection.

Key points:

·The American Vaping Association (VTA) has launched a million-dollar advertising campaign urging the Trump administration to protect the e-cigarette industry.

·The ads will air on major networks such as Fox News and Bloomberg, targeting key decision-makers in Washington, D.C.

·The VTA is calling for crackdown on illegal Chinese e-cigarette products, while also advocating for the protection of adult-oriented products sold by American small businesses.

【2Firsts News Flash】According to a report by VTA on July 14, the Vapor Technology Association (VTA) has invested millions of dollars in launching a campaign on cable television, radio, and digital advertising, urging President Trump and his administration to clearly distinguish between illegal e-cigarette products targeted at youth and safe, adult-oriented alternatives that help millions of Americans quit smoking.

The national advertising campaign by VTA will be aired on high-profile Sunday news programs on Fox News, Newsmax, Bloomberg, NBC, ESPN, and selected radio networks to reach a wide and influential group of stakeholders. These advertisements are strategically designed to target key decision-makers in Washington, D.C, as well as members of President Trump's golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Through this advertising campaign, VTA clearly and directly conveys a message: the US FDA and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are taking action against President Trump's efforts to save the flavored e-cigarette industry.

The event emphasized the importance of combating illegal Chinese e-cigarette products targeted towards teenagers, which are marketed through video games, applications, and cartoon characters, while also protecting the responsible adult-oriented e-cigarette products sold by small businesses in the United States - a policy position that VTA has long advocated for.

"The VTA is urging President Trump to take a tough stance against Chinese e-cigarette products and to avoid FDA safety checks. However, we also urge him to fulfill his promise to protect the independent American e-cigarette industry worth billions of dollars, save tens of thousands of small businesses struggling to survive under the latest FDA actions, and ensure that adults can continue to use e-cigarette products to help them quit smoking—all of which are currently under threat. Despite attempts by some media personalities, especially advertising executives trying to scrutinize our policy statements and long-standing advocacy positions, the VTA and the member companies we represent will not back down to opposition. We are directly challenging them, and we believe our message and activities will resonate with the Trump administration and the millions of e-cigarette voters who support him."

The Executive Director of the American E-Cigarette Technology Association, Tony Abboud, stated.

Currently, VTA recognizes that some rogue officials and the FDA's excessive intervention are "authorizing" CBP to intercept almost all e-cigarette products at the border. This action disrupts the entire independent American e-cigarette product distribution chain and goes against President Trump's promise to save this industry.

These organizations are not targeting e-cigarette products, but rather focusing on shutting down independent American e-cigarette companies that help adults quit smoking. VTA's actions reiterate the call for simplified regulations that would allow the tens of thousands of small businesses in this industry to thrive, and encourage President Trump and his team to support consumer choice.

The collaboration between VTA and the Trump administration is ongoing, with VTA committed to pursuing the following policy priorities:

·In collaboration with the FDA, the VTA is working to end the former President Biden's illegal e-cigarette product regulation and replace it with scientific and streamlined regulatory guidance that focuses on product safety.

·They support enforcement actions against illegal e-cigarette products from China and the implementation of reasonable marketing restrictions.

·Additionally, the VTA is working to establish transparent guidelines to facilitate the entry of products into the US while protecting tens of thousands of American businesses.

The VTA's efforts aim to strengthen the association's long-standing commitment to reducing youth e-cigarette use, while also providing access to safer e-cigarette alternatives for millions of American adults trying to quit smoking – and defending the thousands of jobs supported by independent e-cigarette companies.

The VTA stated that the event also conveyed a clear message: the actions of the FDA do not align with the priorities expressed by President Trump, and it is now time for the agency to correct its course and follow President Trump's agenda - not former President Biden's agenda.
