2Firsts, Sept. 10 —The White House has released a report stemming from Executive Order 14212, signed by President Donald Trump in February 2025, which initiated the Make Our Children Healthy Again Assessment. The assessment and its subsequent strategy report explicitly state that vaping is being incorporated into the core agenda for addressing the “childhood chronic disease and health crisis.”
The report highlights the rising levels of anxiety and depression among American youth, attributing the trend in part to screen addiction, poor diet, lack of physical activity, and increased vaping use. The Surgeon General will launch a nationwide education campaign focusing on the harms of alcohol, controlled substances, vaping, and THC to children’s health.
The report further notes that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) will intensify enforcement actions targeting unapproved, youth-oriented vaping products, underscoring the Administration’s stance that illegal e-cigarettes will not be allowed to continue flooding the U.S. market.
