Two shops in Taunton have been ordered to close for three months after authorities found illegal tobacco and vape products worth around £50,000. The seizures followed joint operations involving Trading Standards officers, police and tobacco detection dogs. Magistrates ruled that closing the premises was necessary to prevent further criminal activity.

Serbian logistics company Nelt Group said it has become a distributor for Japan Tobacco International products in Albania. According to the company, the partnership has created 50 new jobs in the local market. Nelt described the move as part of a broader change to its business model in Albania. The group already cooperates with JTI in Bosnia and Herzegovina and expects its revenue to grow by 9% in 2025.

Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis has approved, in its first reading, a bill that would ban the import, export, production, storage, wholesale and retail sale, and use of electronic cigarettes and their components. The bill amends the Law on Tobacco and Tobacco Products, classifying nicotine-containing e-cigarettes as tobacco products while explicitly excluding heated tobacco products. If adopted, the law would take effect on February 1, 2026.

Thai economic crime police have raided a residence in Chonburi province used for the illegal production and distribution of e-cigarettes, arresting a Chinese national. Authorities seized large quantities of vape devices, components, e-liquids and production equipment, as well as powder suspected to be linked to a controlled psychoactive substance. Further forensic analysis is underway.

Jordan has amended its 2025 Special Tax Law, introducing a package of tax reductions on heated tobacco products and electronic cigarettes. Published in the Official Gazette, the changes take effect Monday morning and include a 50% cut in taxes on heated tobacco devices, as well as significant reductions on e-cigarette hardware and liquids. The move is expected to have an immediate impact on retail prices.

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration has announced that establishments selling vaporized nicotine and non-nicotine products and novel tobacco products with medicinal or therapeutic claims must secure Licenses to Operate. Such products are also required to be registered as pharmaceutical products through the Center for Drug Regulation and Research. The FDA urged stakeholders to comply with the new requirements to ensure product safety, efficacy and quality.
