Global tobacco compliance development seminar successfully concluded in Shenzhen, highlighting industry experts' insights on 2025 market regulations and trends.

On January 9, 2025, the 2025 Global NGP Compliance Development Symposium, concluded successfully in Shenzhen. The symposium aimed to promote global compliance development and advocate for companies to actively embrace the new era of compliance. More than 10 well-known compliance experts and industry representatives from China and around the world delivered keynote speeches in a combination of online and offline formats, attracting nearly 200 participants from various sectors, including international tobacco companies, top e-cigarette companies in China, top supply chain companies, and researchers. The conference was organized by 2Firsts, a global leading NGP industry media.

Azim Chowdhury, a partner at the law firm Keller and Heckman, participated in the symposium and delivered an online presentation titled "Analysis and Prediction of Compliance with the 2025 U.S. Market".

 

Chowdhury reviewed the historical background of FDA regulation of tobacco products, noting that its regulatory scope has expanded to include new products such as e-cigarettes. He emphasized that the standards for PMTA approval are very high, especially for flavored products, which must demonstrate their relative effectiveness in helping adult smokers quit. Additionally, he discussed the importance of scientific evidence and access to devices in obtaining FDA authorization. In conclusion, he summarized FDA's enforcement priorities and urged companies to actively participate in the PMTA process to ensure compliance and avoid enforcement actions.
