£4000 Worth of Illegal E-cigarettes Seized in Hinckley by Authorities in UK
Hinckley authorities seize £4000 worth of illegal e-cigarette products, along with untaxed cigarettes, violating UK regulations.

According to a report from the Leicester Mercury on March 5th, the Leicestershire police, along with licensing officers from the Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, seized illegal e-cigarette products worth over £4000 in the central English town of Hinckley. Additionally, an undisclosed quantity of untaxed cigarettes was also found in the retail premises. Local authorities stated that these illegal e-cigarette products are in violation of UK regulations.

 

It is reported that these illegal e-cigarettes may contain high concentrations of nicotine, prohibited substances, or have oversized nicotine e-liquid reservoirs.

 

At present, the seized items will be transferred to the trade standards department for further investigation.

Developed by the Harm Reduction Workgroup of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco’s Treatment Research Network, the paper recommends including e-cigarettes alongside FDA-approved cessation medications in risk-benefit discussions. It cites high-certainty evidence that nicotine e-cigarettes achieve higher quit rates than nicotine replacement therapy and evidence suggesting efficacy comparable to highly effective medications such as varenicline and cytisine. R.J. Reynolds Vapor Company has begun selling four flavored Vuse Pro pods — Peach, Berry, Watermelon and Fresh Mint — in Ohio and selected other U.S. markets.
