【2Firsts News Flash】According to agoranovale's report on August 3rd, the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service conducted a large-scale inspection operation on the morning of August 1st at the Salgado Filho International Airport and a local postal distribution center. The main purpose of this operation was to crack down on the import and export of drugs, controlled substances, and other prohibited items through postal and aviation channels. The seized prohibited items were estimated to be worth over 100,000 Brazilian reais (over 17,957 US dollars).

In this operation, law enforcement agencies seized various banned substances, including MDMA tablets, bottles of methylenedioxybenzoate (controlled substance), approximately 230 e-cigarette devices, and hormones and steroids injections without a prescription from a doctor. According to the Federal Tax Bureau, these products are often misused for cosmetic or performance-enhancing purposes.

In addition to the seizure measures mentioned above, all confiscated items have been handed over for the appropriate legal procedures. This operation is the second special inspection this week, with a previous operation having seized illegal substances worth approximately 10,000 reais (about $1792), including cannabis leaves containing high concentrations of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

The head of the airport customs department stated that one of the goals of the operation is to protect young people from the risks posed by prohibited drugs and unregulated items. The Brazilian Federal Revenue Service emphasized that in the future, more inspections of this kind will be conducted to ensure the safety of residents and prevent logistics channels from being used for illegal activities.
