Brazilian Senator Seeks Strict Regulations on E-cigarette Sales
Brazilian Senator Soraia Tronick from Podemos-MS party proposes strict regulations on e-cigarette sales, aiming to establish clear rules for production, supervision, and advertising.

According to a report from Onortao, Brazilian Senator Soraya Thronicke from the Podemos-MS party has proposed strict regulations in the Senate to govern the sale of e-cigarettes in the region.

 

Tronic has reminded that she has submitted a proposal (PL 5008/2023), which aims to establish clear regulations for the production, sale, supervision, and advertising of e-cigarettes.

Shanghai released its 2025 White Paper on Smoking Control in Public Places at a city tobacco control meeting on March 5. The paper reports a 12.6% smoking incidence in legally designated smoke-free venues, down 0.4 percentage points from 2024, and says 98.2% of residents support a full indoor smoking ban.

South Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare will implement a partial revision of the Tobacco Business Act on April 24. The scope will expand from products made with “tobacco leaves” to all products manufactured with natural or synthetic nicotine. Synthetic nicotine liquid e-cigarettes, which had previously been treated as industrial products and were freely sold and advertised online, will from April 24 be subject to the same regulations as ordinary tobacco products.
