Brazilian Senator Seeks Strict Regulations on E-cigarette Sales
Brazilian Senator Soraia Tronick from Podemos-MS party proposes strict regulations on e-cigarette sales, aiming to establish clear rules for production, supervision, and advertising.

According to a report from Onortao, Brazilian Senator Soraya Thronicke from the Podemos-MS party has proposed strict regulations in the Senate to govern the sale of e-cigarettes in the region.

 

Tronic has reminded that she has submitted a proposal (PL 5008/2023), which aims to establish clear regulations for the production, sale, supervision, and advertising of e-cigarettes.

Jersey is proposing a vaping duty. The Treasury Minister said the duty is forecast to raise £467,000 in 2026 because it will take effect in the second half of the year, and £955,000 per year from 2027 to 2029. Implementation is estimated to cost around £400,000 over four years, with an initial cost of £145,000 in 2026. The policy is described as aiming to reduce nicotine consumption and improve public health, while avoiding a shift to smoking.

Nigeria’s House of Representatives said it will review the National Tobacco Control Act to address regulatory gaps around emerging nicotine products such as e-cigarettes and to strengthen border controls and enforcement coordination. A relevant committee visited the headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service, stressing linkage and cooperation among the NDLEA, NAFDAC and Customs.
