Celebrating Amazigh New Year with PMI's IQOS Stores
Philip Morris Maghreb (PMI) is celebrating Morocco's Amazigh New Year "Yd'Ennayer 2974" at all IQOS stores in Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakech.

According to Moroccan media outlet Lavieeco, Philip Morris International (PMI) celebrated Morocco's Amazigh New Year, "Yd'Ennayer 2974," from January 13th to 14th. The company showcased the splendor of Amazigh culture in all IQOS stores in Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakesh.

 

Faysal El Kawass, the Director of Smoke-Free Products at PMI Maghreb, expressed his delight in being able to share this unique experience with adult users of our IQOS ILUMA technology in Morocco, while also celebrating Amazigh culture and traditions.

 

As a result, PMI is planning to introduce exclusive promotions aimed at celebrating the start of the Amazig New Year. Additionally, the first batch of customers visiting the stores will be entitled to personalized gifts with Amazig-style designs.

 

Adult users can also win exclusive invitations and collections from Moroccan stylist and designer Yassine Morabit.

The case follows a complaint from a civil society organisation that alleges regular, unnecessary and non-transparent contacts between DG TRADE and tobacco industry representatives, raising questions over compliance with the EU’s obligations under the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. The inquiry remains ongoing, and the Ombudswoman has not reached any finding of maladministration.

U.S. Customs Plan to Require Foreign Export Declarations Could Deal ‘Devastating’ Blow to China’s Vape Exports, Logistics gl Expert Says
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection proposal to collect foreign export declarations and other overseas customs documents could expose discrepancies in the value, classification and description of China-made vape shipments entering the United States. A veteran Chinese logistics professional told 2Firsts that the measure, if implemented, could undermine the all-inclusive shipping model used by some unauthorized vape exporters and push parts of the trade toward costlier underground channels. The risk extends beyond higher duties: accurately declared products may also be more readily identified as unauthorized e-cigarettes subject to FDA enforcement.

HM Revenue & Customs is urging members of the public to report vape shops, barber shops and other high-street businesses suspected of tax fraud, money laundering or other illegal activity, with informants not required to provide personal details. China’s Zhengzhou Tobacco Research Institute develops end-to-end heated tobacco analysis to trace aerosol compound origins
The Zhengzhou Tobacco Research Institute of China National Tobacco Corporation has filed a patent application for an end-to-end method to analyze the migration and transformation of chemical compounds in heated tobacco products. Using GC-Orbitrap/MS non-targeted analysis, the method compares tobacco substrate and aerosol samples to distinguish compounds transferred directly from the substrate from those newly formed during heating, while also calculating transfer rates. In an example involving nine heated tobacco products, the patent identified 17 newly formed thermal decomposition compounds and 38 transferred compounds.
