Derbyshire Trading Standards Agency Busts Store Selling Illegal Tobacco

Police in Derbyshire discovered illegal tobacco and e-cigarette products in a store, with a total retail value of £2500.

According to a report by Derbyshiretimes on May 29th, a store in Derbyshire, England, was found selling illegal tobacco and e-cigarette products by the Trading Standards authority.

In this operation, the police seized a total of 3,000 illegal cigarettes, 50 illegal tobacco pouches (50 grams), and 49 non-compliant e-cigarettes, with a total retail value of £2,500.

BAT expands facial age-estimation checks: over 600 stores covered in Europe, targeting 1,000 by year-end

BAT has partnered with the Channel Islands Co-operative Society and Yoti to pilot facial age estimation in 10 Coop stores across Jersey. Customers scan a QR code and take a selfie; the system instantly deletes the image and returns only a yes/no against a minimum age threshold (set at 20) for the pilot. Russia's Perm Legislators Approve Full Ban on Vape Products in Regional Retail Market

2Firsts, November 28, 2025 — The Legislative Assembly of Perm Krai has passed a law banning the retail sale of vape products and other nicotine-aerosol devices, effective March 1, 2026. Individuals found selling such items will face fines between ₽15,000–₽20,000 (about US $180–240), while companies face ₽50,000–₽100,000 (about US $600–1,200). The ban covers all electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), heated-tobacco devices, and their components, regardless of nicotine content.
