Derbyshire Trading Standards Agency Busts Store Selling Illegal Tobacco
Police in Derbyshire discovered illegal tobacco and e-cigarette products in a store, with a total retail value of £2500.

According to a report by Derbyshiretimes on May 29th, a store in Derbyshire, England, was found selling illegal tobacco and e-cigarette products by the Trading Standards authority.

 

In this operation, the police seized a total of 3,000 illegal cigarettes, 50 illegal tobacco pouches (50 grams), and 49 non-compliant e-cigarettes, with a total retail value of £2,500.

China’s vape exports showed resilience in the first half of 2026 after a short-term shock from China’s export rebate adjustment. But customs data points to more than a simple recovery: the structure of growth is changing. Vaping devices and atomization hardware emerged as the strongest growth driver, while nicotine-containing vaping products remained broadly stable. Meanwhile, nicotine substitute-related products represented by 6-methyl nicotine expanded rapidly, becoming a new category to watch for both industry and regulators. After the U.S. market went through a cycle of shortages, replenishment and inventory rebuilding in 2025, China’s vape supply chain is entering a new phase of reallocation.

The UK government has announced that HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) will carry out more than 30,000 interventions targeting businesses and retail premises during the 2026-2027 financial year. China’s Jiangsu Tobacco Monopoly Bureau and Jiangsu Provincial Medical Products Administration have issued a joint notice targeting illegal production and sales of vape products disguised as medical devices. The notice identifies six categories of violations, including obtaining medical licenses through false materials, misusing medical device credentials, expanding production beyond approved scopes, and using medical device-related online platforms to promote or sell vape products. The action is based on China’s tobacco and medical device regulations and aims to strengthen vape oversight and consumer protection.
