Large-scale Illegal Disposable E-cigarettes Seized by UK Local Gov

Officials in Barking and Dagenham seized nearly 20,000 illegal disposable e-cigarettes from a store, worth an estimated £260,000.

According to Local Gov, on May 21, trade standards officers from the council of Barking and Dagenham in the UK discovered nearly 20,000 large-capacity illegal disposable e-cigarettes in a store last week.

Law enforcement officers conducted a surprise inspection at a shop in Dagenham last Thursday (16th) and seized nearly 20,000 illegal e-cigarettes with an estimated retail value of £260,000. The city council stated that efforts are currently being made to remove all oversized and illegal disposable e-cigarettes in preparation for a complete ban by early 2025.

Trade regulation and community safety officer Cllr Syed Ghani stated, "Local businesses have a responsibility to ensure the safety of the products they sell and to act in accordance with regulations, which this particular company clearly failed to do. Over-sized and unregulated e-cigarette products could have a significant impact on public health, potentially leading to addiction to more potent products, so we have decided to eradicate this phenomenon completely in Barking and Dagenham.

Belarus Proposes 20% Tax Increase on Vaping Products and Nicotine Items

Belarus will increase excise taxes in 2026 on vapes, liquids for electronic smoking systems, and non-tobacco nicotine products, with a proposed 20% rise aimed at aligning these rates with traditional cigarettes.
