Environmental Organization in Enniscorthy City Tackles Recycling Challenges
Enniscorthy's environmental association members are facing a major recycling challenge with high quantities of e-cigarettes and cans.

According to a report from independent news, members of the environmental organization association in Enniskorthy, Ireland, carry out environmental activities every Sunday in the town and its surrounding areas. Additionally, some members also participate in cleaning activities during their free time.

 

Members share the garbage information they have collected on a forum called ChangeX, where they can showcase and exchange their collections, along with the different types of waste they have gathered.

 

However, many members have complained that a significant number of recyclable items, such as discarded e-cigarettes and cans, among the waste they collect, have become a major issue for recycling.

 

Despite facing various challenges, the Enniscorthy Urban Conservation Association has achieved a silver award for the first time in this year's competition.

Philip Morris International’s global R&D chief Michele Cattoni met Liu Sanjiang, deputy director of China’s State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, in Beijing on Aug. 27. The meeting comes as China advances mandatory standards for heated cigarettes and nicotine pouches, laying groundwork for their domestic introduction. Cattoni has held senior roles in PMI’s heated tobacco development, while China’s draft standard covers multiple heating architectures, including systems similar in principle to PMI’s IQOS ILUMA technology.

Switzerland Tightens Vape Checks as Only 3 of 32 Tested Products Meet New Tobacco Rules
According to Swiss media outlet Blick, local authorities are strengthening compliance checks on vape products, nicotine pouches and other tobacco-related products following the implementation of Switzerland’s revised Tobacco Products Act. A Basel laboratory tested 32 disposable vapes and e-liquids, with only three meeting regulatory requirements and 21 products banned from sale. Swiss authorities are also expanding retail inspections, laboratory testing and youth purchase checks to enforce the new tobacco and nicotine product rules.

KT&G will launch the lil Tonino Lamborghini heated tobacco device in Seoul on September 15, 2026. The product introduces a new heating technology called Flashwave Heating, which uses microwaves to heat tobacco sticks internally and delivers a manufacturer-rated heat-up time of about three seconds. The device features an all-metal aluminum body, a color display and a dedicated GUI, and launches alongside a new line of NAU tobacco sticks that are incompatible with existing lil consumables. UK retailer Vape HQ has estimated potential price changes under the new volume-based tax system, showing that 100ml shortfill e-liquids could see prices rise from around £12.99 to £39.39, a 203% increase, while 2ml prefilled pod vape kits could rise from £5.99 to £6.52, an increase of about 9%.
