Greece to Implement Stricter Regulations on Alcohol and Tobacco
Greece to tighten regulations on alcohol and tobacco sales to minors, aiming to protect youth from harmful substances.

According to Ekathimerini on January 23, the Greek Ministry of Health is set to introduce stricter regulations for the sale of alcohol to minors and strengthen controls on the sale and use of new tobacco and nicotine products. This initiative aims to protect minors from harmful substances through the extensive cooperation of law enforcement agencies, municipal police, and health departments.

The bill draft will be reviewed at the government meeting, proposing restrictions on the sale of any tobacco-related products to minors, including e-cigarettes, vapor products, and synthetic nicotine products. The bill will also limit the use of these products by adults in public places. The sale locations and times for such products will be strictly regulated, with age verification strengthened at sales points.

In addition, the bill proposes the establishment of a new department within the Greek National Public Health Organization (EODY) specifically responsible for monitoring and enforcing the revised laws.
