2Firsts, Dec. 29, 2025 — According to BBC, QuitVape, a service designed to help young people in Guernsey stop vaping, is set to finish at the end of the month.

QuitVape was launched earlier this year for an initial six-month pilot period and was available to young people aged 12 to 18. The service was launched by Public Health Services in collaboration with Action for Children, with care leavers able to access the service up to the age of 25.

The BBC report noted the service was introduced following new regulations banning the sale of vapes to under-18s from 1 June 2025.

The States of Guernsey said 29 people had downloaded an official self-help booklet and that discussions were ongoing regarding the future delivery of the service. Alex Hawkins-Drew, associate director of Public Health, said the pilot allowed young people who want to stop vaping to access appropriate support, including self-help resources, face-to-face guidance, or more intensive interventions. Aaron Davies, service manager at Action for Children, said the pilot had shown potential for positive change among young people who engaged with the service and reduced their vaping use.
