Hong Kong Passes Bill to Lift Ban on E-cig Transshipment
The Hong Kong Legislative Council approves a crucial amendment bill, paving the way for resumed e-cigarette transshipment.

On June 21, the Hong Kong Legislative Council held a meeting to resume discussions on the "2023 Import and Export (Amendment) Bill" (hereinafter referred to as the "Bill").

The Legislative Council, following a second and third reading, approved the Bill with a majority vote (77 attended, 72 in favor, 1 against, 2 abstained). Following the Bill's passage, the transshipment of e-cigarette products through Hong Kong's multimodal transportation system may resume under a new registration plan, supervised and enforced by Hong Kong Customs. The Hong Kong Legislative Council stated that the Bill will be implemented from the day it is published as a law in the gazette.
