According to Yahoo, JT said it will begin rolling out “EVO Sakura Regular,” a new product under EVO, the premium brand dedicated to the heated tobacco brand Ploom, at convenience stores and tobacco retailers across Japan from April 6.

JT said EVO is a premium brand dedicated to Ploom. Since its launch in July 2025, the brand has performed strongly. In terms of stick sales share within the heated tobacco market, it rose to second place on a cumulative basis in the second half of 2025. JT also said that the device “Ploom AURA” became the fastest product in the company’s history to surpass 4 million units.

According to JT, EVO already includes popular flavours such as “Deep Regular,” “Black Menthol,” and “Honey Lemon Crystal.” The new product was created based on the results of Ploom’s first-ever “new product voting campaign.” From January 22 to February 28, users voted among four entries: “EVO Green Mint,” “EVO Cacao Mint Crystal,” “EVO Tropical Lime Crystal,” and “EVO Sakura Regular.” Out of more than 10,000 votes cast in total, “EVO Sakura Regular” ranked third.

JT said it selected the product as the first one for nationwide launch because it received strong support after the first- and second-ranked products and because it was regarded as a flavour that evokes the coming spring. Users who took part in the vote also commented that they were very interested in it and wanted it, and that it combined the satisfaction of a regular flavour with a sakura note that made it easy to use.

JT said “EVO Sakura Regular” features a smooth and aromatic blend. A bright aroma rises first, followed by a faint floral note, creating a mellow and well-balanced taste.

JT also said it will hold a commemorative event for the launch. From March 27 to April 5, it will sponsor “Asakusa Rokku SAKURA STREET -Sakura En Dori-” at Asakusa Rokku Broadway and set up a special smoking booth called “Ploom LOUNGE” at the venue.

“EVO Sakura Regular” has already been on sale since February 3 through the CLUB JT online shop and Ploom Shops nationwide. From April 6, it will also be rolled out to convenience stores, tobacco retailers and Ploom STAND locations nationwide. JT said that due to a retail price revision linked to changes in the taxation method for heated tobacco products, the product will be uniformly priced at JPY 580 from April 1 (approximately USD 3.71, based on 1 JPY = 0.0064 USD).

In addition, the limited-color “Fuchsia Flare” edition of the “Ploom AURA” device, which JT said matches the tone of “EVO Sakura Regular,” is currently available in advance sales and will be released nationwide in stages from March 17. JT also said that from March 16 to May 3, the “Ploom AURA” starter kit will be sold at a special price of JPY 1,480 (approximately USD 9.47, based on 1 JPY = 0.0064 USD).

Fifth Circuit Upholds FDA’s 2021 PMTA Rule, Citing Statutory Health-Study Requirements
A Fifth Circuit panel upheld the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s 2021 final rule requiring companies seeking premarket authorization for new tobacco products to include information on health-risk investigations. In a published opinion, the court found FDA satisfied the Regulatory Flexibility Act’s procedural requirements and reasonably relied on the economic analysis from the 2016 “deeming rule” as a factual basis to certify limited impact on small businesses.
