JTI Reports Strong Sales of Its Nicotine Pouches in the Philippines, Monthly Growth Reaches 23%
JTI sees strong growth potential for its smokeless nicotine product "Nordic Spirit" in the Philippines, with sales increasing monthly.

Key points:

1.Japan Tobacco International (JTI) is optimistic about the growth potential of its smoke-free nicotine product "Nordic Spirit" in the Philippine market.

2.Since its launch in May 2023, nicotine pouches have experienced strong sales growth in the Philippines, indicating high market acceptance.

According to a recent report by Philstar, at a press conference held in Stockholm, Sweden, Karin Tan, the Category Director for Low Risk Products at JTI Philippines, mentioned that since the arrival of "Nordic Spirit" in the Philippines in May 2023, sales have been increasing by 23% every month.

Karin stated that as the first nicotine pouch brand in the Philippines, "Nordic Spirit" has successfully introduced this product category to the local market. Currently, Filipino consumers have praised the convenience, flavors, and satisfaction of nicotine pouches. According to data from major convenience stores such as 7-11 and Uncle John's, market acceptance and demand for this product are continuously increasing.

Karin explained that as Filipino smokers are turning to smoke-free alternatives believed to be less harmful, nicotine pouches have become increasingly popular.

The growth is indeed quite astonishing, in terms of market sales, our sales have increased month-on-month," Tan said. "This indicates that modern oral nicotine products are attractive in the Philippines market.

A recent JTI survey found that 80% of 7,000 consumers reported a positive experience using nicotine pouches. Karin pointed out that nicotine pouches are particularly suitable for use in smoke-free areas like the Philippines because they do not produce smoke and can be used in offices, cars, or airplanes.

Nordic Spirit's nicotine pouch products come in various sizes: a 20-pack jar is priced at P135, while a 5-pack portable pouch is priced at P35.

Russia’s Public Chamber official opposes “generational ban” on tobacco sales, citing rights concerns
Vladislav Grib, deputy secretary of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, said a “generational ban” on cigarette sales—restricting sales based on year of birth—would not resolve smoking and would instead lead to human rights violations. He argued older cohorts would buy and share, and the approach would split citizens into two categories.
