According to the epravda news report, the Security Service of Ukraine (БЭБ) detectives and cyber police (Киберполиция) collaborated to uncover a large-scale illegal production of e-cigarette liquid in Kiev and its surrounding areas. The investigation revealed that the total market value of the illegally circulated e-liquid has reached approximately 365 million hryvnia (around 8.9 million US dollars).
Investigators have discovered that the group set up underground factories in Kyiv and the surrounding area to produce e-liquid for e-cigarettes, and used industrial equipment in specially equipped workshops to mass-produce these counterfeit goods.
The Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine's region has stated:
The manufacturer offers a wide range of e-liquid products. E-liquid is primarily made up of four ingredients: nicotine, propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, and flavorings. The products are packaged in plastic PET bottles. The finished e-liquid is sold nationwide in Ukraine.
In the raid, the Ukrainian Economic Security Bureau seized 18,000 e-cigarette e-liquids, over 15,000 disposable electronic devices, nearly 15,000 liters of chemical raw materials, production equipment, furniture, and other assets. Additionally, they also confiscated over 600,000 hryvnias (approximately $15,000) in cash and six transport vehicles.
Currently, this case is under preliminary review.
