According to reports from British media outlet ECHO, over the past eight months, the Alcohol and Tobacco Unit of Liverpool City Council, along with Merseyside Police and the Liverpool Public Health Department, have been carrying out a series of operations across the city to crack down on the sale of counterfeit e-cigarette products. A total of 19,000 illegal e-cigarettes (those with e-liquid contents exceeding 2ml) were seized, with an estimated value of nearly £250,000.
All inspected establishments will receive a closure order warning letter informing them in detail of the consequences of restocking in the future or committing further violations.
Harry Doyle, a member of the Culture and Public Health Committee, took part in the raid and stated, "Removing these illegal products from our city is a top priority, as we are aware of its harmful effects, especially on young people. I urge smokers who choose to quit through e-cigarettes to purchase from reputable dealers."
According to sources, Liverpool is a port city located in the northwest region of England. It is recognized as one of the eight major cities in England, with a population of approximately 520,000.
