【2Firsts News Flash】According to a report by Malaymail on July 16th, the 269th Conference of Rulers held at the Malaysian National Palace discussed national security issues, judicial appointments, and proposals to ban the sale and use of e-cigarettes.
The Chief Secretary, Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, stated in a press release that the meeting was chaired by Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor state.
Sai Danial stated that the meeting also discussed the appointment of judges to the Federal Court, Court of Appeal, and High Court, as well as the appointment of Chief Justices of Sabah and Sarawak, the President of the Court of Appeal, and the Chief Justice of Malaysia.
“The meeting also addressed proposals to implement a nationwide ban on the sale and use of e-cigarettes. Legal opinions from the 126th and 127th meetings of the Islamic Religious Affairs State Committee (MKI) were also presented at the meeting, as well as resolutions from the 2025 special session.”
He said.
Furthermore, Sae Daniel also stated that the meeting further discussed the necessity of registering marriages for refugees and asylum seekers in Malaysia, as well as a cabinet document on the central policies regarding asset forfeiture and asset management.
His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, attended a preparatory meeting held yesterday at the National Palace.
