Ontario Government Announces Ban on E-Cigarettes in Schools
Ontario government bans e-cigarettes in schools; allocates $47.5M for detectors, mental health support, and awareness campaigns.

According to City News on August 29th, the newly appointed Minister of Education for the province of Ontario, Jill Dunlop, reiterated during a press conference on Thursday (29th) that the government has explicitly banned students from using e-cigarettes, as well as nicotine and tobacco products, in schools.


In order to implement this ban, the Ontario provincial government will invest $47.5 million, with $30 million being used to install e-cigarette detectors and other safety upgrades in schools, $1 million for mental health services in Ontario schools, and $1.5 million to support schools in conducting grassroots awareness campaigns.


The new regulations will take effect on September 1st.

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration has announced that establishments selling vaporized nicotine and non-nicotine products and novel tobacco products with medicinal or therapeutic claims must secure Licenses to Operate. Such products are also required to be registered as pharmaceutical products through the Center for Drug Regulation and Research. The FDA urged stakeholders to comply with the new requirements to ensure product safety, efficacy and quality.
