Philip Morris Japan announced the launch of a new TEREA heated tobacco stick for the IQOS ILUMA series, “TEREA Stellar Pearl,” featuring a crushable capsule mint profile. The product will go on sale in Japan through offline retail channels from Jan. 19 and will be rolled out on the company’s official e-commerce store from Jan. 29, priced at 580 yen (about $3.6) per pack.

According to Japan’s Kakaku and official IQOS information, Philip Morris Japan (PMJ) announced the launch of a new TEREA heated tobacco stick designed for the IQOS ILUMA series, “TEREA Stellar Pearl (テリア ステラー パール).” The product belongs to the capsule menthol category, allowing users to change the flavour profile by crushing a capsule. It features a cooling mint taste and releases “Yellow Citrus” aroma after the capsule is crushed.

 

Reports said “TEREA Stellar Pearl” is positioned by PMJ as a flavour that will be launched first in Japan within PMI’s global portfolio. Daniel Sevcik, PMJ’s head of portfolio marketing, said capsule menthol products have gained strong support among adult smokers in Japan, and the new variant is expected to offer an additional option for users seeking a stronger cooling sensation and a flavour-switching experience.

 

As for the rollout, PMJ plans to start offline sales in Japan from Jan. 19, covering four IQOS stores nationwide (Sapporo, Ginza, Nagoya and Shinsaibashi), as well as IQOS partner retail channels (IQOS shops/corners) and a nationwide tobacco retail network including convenience stores. From Jan. 29, the product will also be available via the IQOS Online Store. It is priced at 580 yen per pack of 20 sticks (tax included, about $3.6).
